Scripture Reading: James 1:5; 1John 5:14

Scripture Text: Luke 11:1

And it came to pass that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray as John also taught his disciples.
2 And he said unto them, When ye pray say Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come Thy will be done as in heaven, so in earth.

Teach us to Pray

As followers of Christ we should want to learn how to pray and get results. Here one of the disciples said John taught his disciples to pray so you do the same.
We need to learn how to pray and get results.
Most Christians are not taught how to pray, they only copy patterns of prayers that we have heard others pray.
There is a right way to pray and a wrong way to pray. Words are powerful.

Proverbs 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

If you pray "Lord whatever it takes for me to draw close to you" You opened your self up to a field day for the Devil. (There is a proper way to get CLOSE without letting the devil beat you up.) Begging and complaining is not Prayer. Gossip about your friends and sins are not praying. It is not proper prayer just because you are at an altar or just because you raise your hands.

You must pray PROPER if you want POSTIVE RESULTS.
We need to learn HOW, WHY, HOW TO BE EFFECTIVE IN PRAYER.
Everybody Prays.
Sinners pray to win the Lottery. Criminals pray for a lenient Judge.
Christians pray for things.
Many cases Christians cannot tell you for sure that they prayed and God answered.

James 4:3 "Ye ask and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.".

The scripture is clear here that a selfish prayer will not be answered
God wants to answer your prayers but is not willing to meet a selfish desire.
Not just any prayer but the PRAYER OF FAITH.

Mark 11:24 "Therefore I say unto you, What things so-ever ye desire when ye pray believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them".

Most of us wait to see if we have it before we believe that we have it. This scripture tells us that WHEN YOU PRAY BELIEVE THAT YOU RECEIVE.
