Scripture Text: Philippians 4:6-7
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Choose Faith Instead of Fear
Are You Choosing Faith Instead of Fear?
How can we Operate in Faith in our Lives?
Every day we have a choice to either trust in God or to be overwhelmed with our circumstances.
All through the day we can either believe that God is in control, believe that he is taking care of us, believe that God's promises will fulfill in our life or we can go ahead and keep on worrying, expecting the worst, and even wonder if we are going ever to make it in life.
I hear people say I am afraid I am going to lose my job.
I am afraid that this marriage is not going to last and also I have heard people say, I am afraid about the future of my children etc.
What they do not realize is that they are choosing fear instead of faith and very soon it will be a reality.
Choosing faith is not all that easy as it sounds. When faced with realities of life fear can easily grip our soul. So how do we choose faith?
How do we Choose Faith?
Point I. Be Disciplined in Your Thought Life
So the bible is telling us, do not be anxious, take control of your thoughts, and do not let your thoughts go wild. Let the peace of God guard your heart and mind.
In simple terms if you allow that fear to grip your heart and mind, your life will be affected.
Let faith come into your thinking.
Point II. Act by Faith, Not in Fear
We are called believers, people of faith; but many times our actions are an expression of fear.
Abraham believed and followed God but he never got a child that God promised him.
Point III. Associate with People of Faith
One similarity between faith and fear is that both are contagious.
If we are around people who are always complaining, discouraging, negative, and worrying; that spirit can come on us.
Point IV. Expect God's Best
Change the perspective of your expectations, have the best thoughts of great days ahead of you.
Always expect God's best whenever you are faced with "bad news".
Our challenges are no match for God.
