Scripture Reading: Romans 12: 17-18; Proverbs 3:5-6; Matthew 10:28
Scripture Text: Matthew 28:1-10
1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
Resurrection Happenings--Sunday Happenings
Sunday happenings not only help to shape up our lives, but also our country. Sunday happenings are important!
From our text about the resurrection of Christ let's consider some Sunday happenings, some Resurrection happenings.
11- The stone rolled (v-2)
12- The guards feared (v-4)
13- The women ran (v-8)
14- The Savior appeared (v-9)
Sunday Happening I. THE STONE ROLLED
1Illustration: Ever got sent to the principal's office for throwing rocks at another during school hours. You said, "BUT HE WAS THROWING ROCKS AT ME TOO!"
And I figured that one good stone deserved another.
That's often the way we think, but that doesn't make it right.
Romans 12: 17-18 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you,
live peaceably with all men.
When God rolls stones He does a really good job of it.
And just as He rolled away that stone, He can also roll away the stones in our lives.
Sunday Happening II. THE GUARDS FEARED
V. 4 "The guards were so afraid of him (the angel) that they shook and became like dead men."
Sunday Happening III. THE WOMEN RAN
V. 8 "So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with
joy, and ran to tell his disciples." The women ran.
Sunday Happening IV. THE SAVIOR APPEARED
V. 9 "Suddenly Jesus met them. 'Greetings,' he said. They came to
him, clasped his feet and worshiped him."
He is the risen Christ, the son of the living God, the Savior of the world!
